June Griffin: An Open Letter To A Thief posted November 1, 2009 Dear Sir, This is an open letter to the thief (s) who broke into a home on Back Valley Road in Evensville, vandalized the old homeplace, stole my son's keepsake saddles which his deceased Grandfather's gave him as a child, Ann McNabb's sewing machine and no telling what else you could grab on the run. The Bible does not teach automatic forgiveness, neither do I believe in it. Thieves are guilty before God, whether it is breaking into a country or into private property. You will pay back from three- to five-fold, according to the mercy of the Owner who will not forgive you lest you the doors you broke down or other damages you inflicted on this landmark property. It is the ancient practice of this nation to pray what is called "The Lord's Prayer," which states that we are to ask that God's Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. It is not His Will that this County be a place where property has to be boarded up and booby-trapped to keep thieves and robbers out. It is a fact that during the era of Prohibition, crime went to nearly zero, especially in Tennessee and it was unnecessary for us to watch to keep you out. But since we are all so cosmopolitan as to have liquor flow freely, thieves are often helped along in their chicanery by the imbibed spirits of taking what doesn't belong to them. The sheriff, according to God's will, will find you out, and we will prosecute when we find out who you are. Meanwhile, our prayers are written down in a place where "thieves do not break in and rob and steal." God is not dead and His Son is the Judge. This letter also covers other places where you have taken what is not yours. For God and Country, June Griffin Dayton, Tn. |
