Navy Veteran Retired From DuPont After 40 Years

Donald Eugene Shannon, 66, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
He was a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church. Don served his country in the U.S. Navy before retiring from DuPont after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Eugene “Gene” Shannon and Ila Hart Shannon.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Shannon; sons, Michael E. Shannon and Jeffrey L. (Wendy) Shannon; and his daughter, Michelle (Paul) Meyners; brother, Jerry W. (Donna) Shannon; sister, Brenda K. (Gene) Bice; grandchildren, Colin Shannon, Abby Meyners, Bryson Shannon, Lexie Meyners, Olivia Shannon, Macie Meyners and Luke Meyners as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on Friday, July 3, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Gary L. Jared officiating.
Entombment will follow the service at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
His family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
