Photo Gallery: The New York Yankees Playing At Turner Field by Tim Evearitt posted June 30, 2009 The New York Yankees are the most prominent Major League franchise. Their exploits are legendary and, although they haven't captured a World Series in awhile, they have the highest payroll in baseball today. The Yankees have evoked a love-hate relationship for as long as I can remember. Personally, the Yankees were a team I grew up loving to hate. The 2009 team enters play Tuesday, June 30, against Seattle with a record of 43-32, good enough to be 3 1/2 games behind Boston in the AL East. Turner Field was crowded a week ago when New York played a three-game set with the Braves. Atlanta won the first game but the Bronx Bombers captured the last two, scoring 19 runs. The most prominent Yankees, including Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, and Johnny Damon, are included in this random collection of photos. Yankee fans, who also read The Chattanoogan, will probably complain that the Red Sox had two photo galleries. They did. Did I mention that I grew up a Yankee hater?
