State Sen. Bo Watson said he has decided not to make a race for the Third District House seat being vacated by Zach Wamp, but former Tennessee Repubican Party Chairman Robin Smith apparently will.
Ms. Smith, who is from Hixson, said she will make an announcement on Wednesday.
She said she has toured all the counties in the Third District and plans another tour.
She recently resigned her GOP post and said she was looking into the Third District contest.
Mark Winslow of Ms. Smith's staff said there will not be a single announcement, but events in each of the 11 counties in the district on Wednesday and Thursday.
She is set to be at Wally's Restaurant on McCallie Avenue in Chattanooga on Wednesday at noon.
Sen. Watson, a Republican from Hixson, said he will concentrate on his state Senate job.
He said, "I love what I am doing. I love the district and the people I represent. I believe that at this moment in time my service to my community is best served in the Tennessee state Senate.".
