CSAS parents and students were told Monday that an assistant principal position would be reinstated, but a decision to reinstate Jim Boles into that position will not be made until a new Executive Principal is hired.

Approximately two hundred parents, students and faculty members of the magnet school attended the meeting, which was promoted by a student's "Keep Mr. Boles @ CSAS" Facebook page.

The middle school assistant principal position was recently cut and Mr. Boles was reassigned to Loftis Middle School.

CSAS also recently lost Executive Principal Steve Ball, who announced earlier this month he was leaving to become principal of East Literature Magnet School in Nashville.

CSAS supporters said the departure of Mr. Ball makes the retention of Mr. Boles even more crucial since their replacements would likely have no experience with the school's Paideia teaching philosophy.

Participating in the meeting were Area II Superintendent James Colbert and county commissioner Warren Mackey. Commissioner Mackey said he would buy three Promethean interactive whiteboards for the school from his commissioner budget.
