A couple who formerly operated a coffee and ice cream shop at Greenville, S.C., has moved to Chattanooga to go into business right by the Walnut Street Bridge.

Roger and Lynda Curtis are operating The Ice Cream Show at one street-level corner of the new Museum Bluffs-Parkview condominiums.

They have a short commute to work since they bought a one-bedroom condo at Museum Bluffs as well.

And a daughter has come along to help with the new shop, which has 1,500 square feet.

The Ice Cream Show features ice cream with a variety of fruit, candy and cookie toppings. There are thousands of different combinations available.

The City Council is set to act next week to approve ice cream sales by the couple on a patio just outside the shop.

Mayor Ron Littlefield said he and his wife had already enjoyed a dish of ice cream at the patio. "We didn't realize we were illegal," he joked.

City Councilwoman Sally Robinson praised the couple's venture, saying it adds more animation and variety to the waterfront.

In the summer the couple will have competition for treats just across the way near the Holmberg Bridge. But it was noted those vendors feature snow cones instead of ice cream.
