As a resident of District 8, I am supporting Andrae McGary for City Council.
I have had the pleasure to get to know Andrae and his beautiful family
over the last several years at our church. Through these interactions, I have been very impressed by and have developed much respect for Andrae McGary, the man.
While I was running for mayor earlier this year, I had the opportunity
to learn more about Andrae in a very different setting. During the
course of our campaigns, we were both invited to attend many of the same neighborhood association meetings and candidate forums. It was in this context that I came to be just as impressed by Andrae McGary, the candidate.
In the numerous discussions I have witnessed between Andrae and the citizens of this city, his passion for Chattanooga was clearly evident. It is expressed not only in his platform, but also in the understanding and compassionate way he interacts with the district’s residents.
While Andrae and I agree on many of the critical issues facing
Chattanooga, most important to me is the fact that he is a proponent
of an open, accessible and fair government. It is clear to me that,
as District 8’s City Councilman, Andrae will not simply listen to the
people of his district; he will actively seek their input. His
decisions will be made with both the concerns of those citizens and
the “big picture” of our city’s future clearly in focus. His actions
will be fair and just, and I am confident that he will govern with a
focus on principles, not politics.
It is time for new leadership in our City Council. It is now more
important than ever that our government spends our tax dollars
efficiently and effectively and that Chattanooga continues to grow and
prosper. I believe Andrae McGary is the man who can provide that kind
of leadership for District 8.
