Later, her mother married John Smith and together they remained in Omaha until Iris finished high school. About a year later Iris met her future husband, Al. He had recently been discharged from the Army after recovering from a combat wound suffered at Anzio, Italy during World War II. Within a year they became engaged and were married in August 1946. Over the course of Al and Iris’ 62 years of marriage, their family grew to include 2 sons, 2 daughters, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Over these years, they lived in Neb., SD, Ks., Tx., Ia., Fla. and Tenn. In 1999, Al and Iris fell in love with Cleveland area and made their retirement home here.

Iris was a faithful child of God and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
