UTC's Karen Vann And CCCE Receive Funding For Educational Talent Search Program
posted August 7, 2008

Ms. Karen Vann, UTC Educational Talent Search project director, and UTC's Center for Community Career Education have secured $226,599 from the U.S. Department of Education to continue the ETS program in Hamilton County schools. This is the third year that ETS has received funding, with total funding expected to reach $1,099,995 over five years.

ETS is a federally funded TRIO program designed to identify and assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education.

The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to participants, preparing them to graduate from high school and succeed in post-secondary academic programs.

Ms. Vann and the ETS staff serve low-income, potential first-generation college students from Brainerd High, Howard High, Orchard Knob Middle, Howard Middle, Chattanooga Middle, and East Lake Academy.
