Thomas Facing New Burglary Charge posted August 7, 2008 A man formerly in the Hamilton County Drug Court program and recently on community corrections is facing a new theft charge. Charges were bound to the Grand Jury from General Sessions Court against Michael Demetrius Thomas, 29. Authorities said Thomas, who has 18 prior burglary and theft cases on his record, was on probation from Criminal Court. Court officials said Thomas was given a second chance in Drug Court, then was removed from the program and had been placed on Community Corrections. In the case on June 23, Charles Nunn of Vine Street said he found that someone had knocked out a rear passenger window on his 1997 Honda Accord. A $300 IPOD was taken along with an IPOD adapter and a checkbook. Police said Thomas pawned the IPOD for $80 the next day at Check, Jewelry and Loan on Lee Highway. |
