She was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. G. Newborn; father, Shelton Walker; mother, Julia Means Walker; brothers, J.Y. Walker, Alfred Walker, Emmitt Walker; sisters, Odell Holmes and Cecil Rawls. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Jo Brown (John, III) Smith; three grandchildren, Meeca Smith, Jeanelle (Damondric) Goins and Summer Smith; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Collins, Nayson and Nevan Goins; sisters, Charlie Mae Floyd, Ethel Duncan, Augusta Graham and Lou Bertha Wadley; sister-in-law, Clyde Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Reginald Poindexter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. Her body will lie in state on Sunday after 12:30 p.m. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc. |
