SAN FRANCISCO -- Tim Lincecum battled through some potentially-damaging situations and helped the Giants gain a 3-2 win over the Braves, who have lost each of their past 26 road games that have been decided by one run.

Lincecum, who has won each of his three career starts against the Braves, allowed two earned runs and five hits in eight innings. The 24-year-old right-hander ended his outing by striking out the side in the eighth inning.

His primary nemesis was Brian McCann, whose three-hit performance included a sixth-inning leadoff double that put him in position to score the game's final run.

McCann and his teammates weren't able to erase the early damage incurred by Chuck James, who allowed three earned runs and five hits in just four innings. The struggling left-hander surrendered a first-inning, two-run homer to Aaron Rowand and saw the Giants score the game's decisive run in the third inning with a sacrifice fly from Rowand.

James, who has posted a 9.55 ERA in his past four Major League starts, was replaced by pinch-hitter Ruben Gotay, who began the fifth inning with a double and later scored on a Yunel Escobar groundout.

The Braves, who have lost nine of their past 12 games, produced a baserunner in six of the eight innings that Lincecum pitched. Casey Kotchman was easily thrown out at the plate while attempting to score on Omar Infante's two-out, first-inning single.
