Quarles Facing Federal Drug Charges
posted August 6, 2008

A Bradley County man is facing federal drug charges after being caught with drugs twice in three months.

Shannon Quarles was charged with two counts of possessing drugs for resale and with possessing a firearm while involved in drug trafficking.

Authorities said on May 1, a Bradley County deputy stopped him while driving in Cleveland. He initially refused to stop and was finally caught after a high-speed chase.

A small baggie of marijuana was found on the ground beside him, and a large quantity of crack cocaine was inside the vehicle. His nine-year-old child was also inside the vehicle.

Then on July 28, another deputy stopped a vehicle driven by a female with Quarles as the front-seat passenger.

A loaded handgun was found in the glove compartment.

While Quarles was being searched at the jail, a tin container with crack cocaine inside was found in his crotch area.

Quarles has three prior felony drug convictions as well as convictions for aggravated assault and failure to appear.
