Ethel Olene Dennis, 83, of Summerville, died Tuesday, August 05, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs. Dennis was born July 11, 1925 in Dekalb County, Ala., the daughter of the late George Franklin and Dorthey Bertha Sharpp Reese. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Trion Church of God. Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Mae Shankles.
Survivors include her husband, Namon Lee Dennis; sons,and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Lee Dennis and Jon R. and Stephanie Dennis, Summerville; sisters, Rose Finch and Cora Combs, Rainsville, Ala.; brother, Bill Reese, Rainsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Anthony Dennis, Angela Odom, Shelly Strange, Jessica Dennis Green, Zachary Dennis, and Alleigha Dennis; great grandchildren, Cole Dennis, Collier Dennis, Kaycee Dennis, Shelby Green, Nathaniel Odom, Christina Watkins, and Mason Strange.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the East Trion Church Of God with Rev. Jimmy Chastain, Rev. Billy Wright, Rev. John Leatherwood, and Rev. Ed Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Waddell, Robert Spears, Andy Shankles, Donnie Shankles, Danny Hatcher, and Kenny Hatcher.
Mrs. Dennis will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today. At other hours the family will be at 292 East Washington St., Summerville, Ga.
