Kingsbury, Ronald Lewis (LaFayette) posted August 5, 2008
Ron started his life in Detroit, Mi., on November 28, 1938. His parents were Joseph and Anita Kingsbury. He was born the fourth child into a family of six children. His dad was in the Army and in 12 years of school, Ron attended 13 different schools; including living in Japan during the occupation of Japan after World War II. Ron graduated high school in San Francisco, Ca. While the rest of his family put down roots in California, Ron headed all over the country. His professional life started with entering the Air Force after graduation. Ron was stationed in Alaska and was there when the territory became a state. He later moved to Ft. Worth, Tx., and worked for General Dynamics for 13 years. He worked on such airplanes as the B-36 Peacemaker, the B-58 Hustler program, and radar systems for the F-111. He also served our country in the Viet Nam War. After moving to Chattanooga, he began his career with Southern Railway. He quickly moved from working on the yard to working in management. Ron designed and patented two inventions while working for the railroad and retired in 1993. After retirement, he was a substitute teacher in the Walker County School District. Ron was an accomplished artist, woodworker, floater, golfer, teacher, electrician, and he loved old cars. He was also a member of the Elk’s Lodge in Lafayette and was honored as being named Elk of the Year. But with all of his professional achievements, his greatest achievement and love was his children and grandchildren. And we all love him as much as he loved us. He is survived by two sons, Butch Robison and his wife Debbie of Summerville, Mo., and Scott Kingsbury of Ft. Worth, Tx. He also leaves three daughters, Christine Conn and husband Richard of Lone Oak, Tx., Wanda Scates and husband Paul of Chattanooga, and Love Kingsbury of Roanoke, Va. Also missing him are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his three brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Kingsbury; his father and mother; and his grandson, John T. Robison. Per Ron’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be a private family memorial service held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville. |
