Mr. Almon Jefferson "A.J." Gudger, 81, of Kimball, died on Monday, August 4, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his family.
The son of the late Sam B. and Omie Mae Bell Farmer Gudger, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Layne Gudger; brothers, James Gudger, Willie "Punk" Gudger, Robert "Cotton" Gudger, Leland Gudger; and sister, Peggy Lorne “Totsie” Gudger.
He is survived by his children, David and Elizabeth Gudger of Kimball, Sammy and Brenda Gudger of Sequatchie, Janice and Dale Johnson and Regina Lambert, all of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Julie West of Stevenson, Al., Paige Gudger, Angie Peoples both of Kimball, Sam Gudger of Sequatchie, Jason Holt of Kimball, Becky Frizzell of Dunlap and Rikki Lambert of Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Mastien, McKinley and Ashlyn West, Railey and Natalie Holt, Chloe and Carley Frizzell; sister, Alma Smith, of Kissimmee, Fl.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Kimball Tabernacle of Praise on Saturday, at 11 A.M. CDT with Reverend Darrell Nunley and Brother David Gudger officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will gather with friends for visitation on Thursday, from 6-9 p.m. CDT and Friday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
His body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
