Fine Time At The Antiques Roadshow
posted July 19, 2008

Let's hear what y'all experienced at this once-in-a-lifetime experience, at least while here in the Scenic City.

I had a great time. Didn't get tapped on the shoulder by any Roadshow superstar, but left with over $5,000 in appraisals under my arm. Ran into old friends I've known for as long as 25 years of junking.

A hint to those planning to attend Roadshow events in the future: Take collections. You only get to have two things appraised. If one of those is a collection of 300 related items. Say old cigar memorabilia, that counts as one of your two allowed, so you can also take another collection of 4,000 area dog rabies tags, and it counts as one. Trust me. We got stuck at Arms and Militaria behind two collections.

Disappointed I didn't get tapped? Yes. You might see my homely kisser at the tail-end with my photo album of a World War I fighter pilot with photos of Eddie Rickenbacker and Quentin Roosevelt's fresh grave, with debris of his mount strewn all about. This was T.R.'s son.
