CARTA Logic posted July 18, 2008 So let me get this straight. I do not ride the CARTA bus. I ride the Incline occasionally when out of town friends are visiting. But I must fund the CARTA busses that I do not ride by paying three times the amount now in order to park my car, not my bus, but my car in Chattanooga. And CARTA will pay $170,000 to replace the coin meters so I can now pay three times the amount for one hour of parking. Why donʼt the people who actually ride CARTA pay for CARTA? I drive a car and park downtown to pay money to local businesses to pay off the Riverfront project. Now I must pay three times the amount to pay for busses that I do not ride and tourists must pay an extra $1 to ride the Incline to pay for busses that no tourist in their right mind would ride. I am not opposed to a raise but a jump to three times the amount and only on cars being parked downtown when we do not use CARTA seems outlandish. Ah, must be government in action and we want the federal government to provide healthcare and make me pay for it too. I guess it is governmental logic or CARTA logic. Save the money on the meters, raise the bus fare for those who use the bus and call it even. Johnny Franks seechatt@yahoo.com |
