It's Wrong To Close Aetna Mountain - And Replies (3)
posted May 18, 2008

I think it is not fair for them to close Aetna Mountain. I have been riding up there before most of the people in that cove were born.

That is where people can get out and have fun with their families, but now they are trying to take that away from us.

If somebody does something wrong like taking a golf cart, then take action on them. Do not try to take something away from everybody else that they and their families enjoy. That is like us taking away the golf course in their place.

I think you all are cruel and wrong for what you are doing. I have been riding up there since I was a kid and now these younger people with a little money want to come try to take our fun away from us.

But God will take something away from them too because you can be selfish.

Let me see if I have this straight. I use your property for my personal benefit. I never pay you anything, nor contribute anything to improve your property.

You, one day decide to do something to bring your property to a better use, excluding my future use of my old playground.

So that's what greedy and selfish is! Now that I understand, I feel much better.

Mr. Hill and everyone on Aetna,

I have been trying to get my 14-year-old son interested in something besides his friends. This past Christmas I bought two motorcycles. We have been to Aetna and some others places riding.

I would not mind one bit to pay a fee to ride on Aetna and help take care of it if this will help my son and I to get closer and teach him about responsibility and respect for the property of others and the outdoors. Yes I would pay a fee to ride.

The road in question is a public road. It has been for many, many years. Check the courthouse records.

What is this, a reverse version of eminent domain, where public roads can now be taken by individuals with enough cash or clout? This is just not right.
