She was a member of the American Legion Post 159 William Blair Post and Senior Neighbors at Alexian Brothers. Mrs. Helton was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Clyde Brackett and Bessie Richards Brackett, brothers, John L., Floyd and Richard Brackett; and sisters, Ida Mae Dial and Shirley Gravely.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gary E. Helton; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Vickie Cruse of Chatsworth, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, J. D. and Faye Brackett, Hixson, Kenneth Brackett, Jerald and Suzy Brackett, Donald Brackett, all of Dalton, Ga., Larry and Myron Helton, Chattanooga, and J.C and JoAnn Pilant, Knoxville, Tn.; sisters, Wanda Farner of Shannon, Ga., and Sue Brackett of Etowah, Tn.; special nephew, Dwayne “Poo” Helton, Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with Rev. Tony Roberson officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel, 601 Ashland Terrace.
