Jones, Elizabeth (Cleveland)

Elizabeth Jones, 102, of Cleveland, died Tuesday evening in a local hospital. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen McDougal McCarter and Henry McCarter. Her husband, Martin Leander Jones, her daughter, Hattie Mae Ramsey, her sons, Lee R. V. Jones and Clifford Jones, 2 sisters and 3 brothers also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jones enjoyed crocheting, her flower garden, carpentry work and sewing. She taught her daughters how to sew. Everybody in the East Cleveland Community loved Mrs. Jones and she attended the East Cleveland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Renzie Johnson and her husband John K. and Rachel Boring and her husband Fred all of Cleveland; her son, Denford Jones and his wife Pam also of Cleveland; her special granddaughter, Debra Ravens of Cleveland; 13 more grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Reverend Don Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
