Michael Cranford, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chattanooga, has been awarded the 2008 Thomas G. Garth Character and Courage Award – the highest honor the organization can bestow on a club professional. Mr. Cranford was honored during a ceremony held at BGCA’s 102nd annual National Conference in San Francisco.

The Thomas G. Garth Character and Courage Award was created in memory of the former BGCA president and is presented each year to a club professional who best exemplifies the qualities and character that made Mr. Garth an extraordinary leader and role model during his decades of service to the organization.

“Michael has devoted his entire professional life to the development and well-being of children and youth across the country,” said Roxanne Spillett, president and CEO, BGCA. “He personifies the excellence we strive for, and is most deserving of this honor.”
