Chickamauga Battlefield, Outdoor Chattanooga Offer Bike Tours

Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park will host the second in a series of monthly guided bicycle tours of Chickamauga Battlefield made possible through a partnership with Outdoor Chattanooga.

On Saturday, May 24, at 9:30 a.m. park rangers will lead a seven to 10 mile bicycle tour of the historic resources at Chickamauga Battlefield. The tour will depart from the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and will last approximately three hours.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycles. All participants are required to wear a helmet. Outdoor Chattanooga, a division of the City of Chattanooga Park’s and Recreation Department, will provide 10 Bianchi Milano Cruiser Bicycles and helmets for visitors without bicycles. Outdoor Chattanooga’s bicycles will be available for adults and children under their supervision. Riders must be at least five feet tall to use bicycles provided by Outdoor Chattanooga.

Reservations are required to use one of the Outdoor Chattanooga bicycles, and can be made by calling Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park at (706) 866-9241.

Additional bicycle tours in the battlefield are scheduled on June 28, July 26, Aug. 23, Sept. 20, and Oct. 18. All rides will begin at 9:30 a.m.
