The East Ridge City Council has voted to approve a charter study committee to review the current city charter and bring recommendations for any improvements or changes needed back to the Council for consideration.
Mayor Mike Steele has appointed the following citizens that are active in the community to serve on the committee: Connie Edwards, chairwoman, Dick Cook, Greg Ezell, Chuck Mehan and Robert Stahl.
The committee has met with representatives of the Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Service to study how city charters operate under state law.
The next meeting of the charter study committee will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at East Ridge City Hall in the training room. The public is invited.
