Senior Claire Hufstetler pitched a two-hitter and senior Kaitlin Sutherland drove in all the runs as Baylor defeated Father Ryan, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at GPS.
The win gave Baylor (7-4) the No. 3 seeding from the East/Middle Region heading into next week's sectionals. The Lady Raiders will play the No. 2 team from the West, Briarcrest, in a best-of-three series in Memphis.
Two games are scheduled for Friday, with the if-necessary game on Saturday. The winner earns a berth in the BlueCross Spring Fling.
Hufstetler struck out seven while Father Ryan pitcher Katy Ayers gave up nine hits and struck out 12.
"It was a very, very good win,'' Baylor coach Kelli Smith said. "We played well.''
Sutherland was 2-for-4 with an RBI single and three-run home run.
Nina Davenport was 3-for-4 for the Lady Raides while Braleigh Angel was 2-for-3. Mandy Harris added a double.
