Signal Mountain Presbyterian Honors Mothers
posted May 9, 2008

A Mother's Day gift at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church can do double
duty this week with the church's annual Mothers' Day library gifting.
Members have been invited to select a book from a suggested list of recent
Christian literature and then designate the book to the church library in honor or memory of a mother or friend.

Non-fiction suggestions include "Walking With God," by John Eldridge,
"Facing Your Giants," by Max Lucado, "Grand Weaver," by Ravi Zacharias, or
"Intercessory Prayer," by Dutch Sheets. There will be new fiction for all ages by writers like Karen Kingsbury, Lauraine Snelling, Beverly Lewis and Melody Carlson, as well as DVD's for children and adults.

The primary goal of the library is to offer the best books in the field of
Christian culture and faith. A secondary goal is to make available a
selection of recreational reading, books and audio-visual materials, both
fictional and non-fictional for all ages.

Currently the library has over 7,655 volumes. Resources available include
teaching, worship, commentary, theology, inspirational writings,
devotionals, church history, biographies, poetry and essays, gardening, pets, art, household maintenance, nutrition, physical fitness, history and
world religions.

The library is funded partially in the church budget but the largest
support is from monetary gifts from church members as memorials or
honorariums.

The annual Mothers' Day library book gifting event is held annually in May,
the Sunday before Mothers' Day.
