More than 570 supporters jammed the lobby of the One Park Place building Thursday night as Republican Sheriff Nominee Jim Hammond officially opened his campaign headquarters.
“People are ready for a new direction from the next sheriff of Hamilton County, and a little bad weather didn’t stop Republican and Democratic supporters of Jim Hammond from turning out for the official opening of the campaign,” said Bobby Wood, Mr. Hammond’s campaign co-chairman.
“What a great start, and we are off and running toward Aug. 7. Jim is the most qualified candidate and we all need to join him in working hard to get elected.”
Mr. Hammond, the Republican candidate, said he was pleased with the start to the campaign.
“It is really gratifying to know citizens from both political parties care as much as I do about safer homes, safe schools and returning honesty and integrity to the office of Sheriff,” said the candidate. “I am so humbled by the people who came out from all over Hamilton County.”
The Hammond for Sheriff Campaign headquarters is located at 6149 Lee Hwy, suite 200, in the One Park Place Building across the street from the Sam’s Club.
The headquarters is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“We have our campaign material at the headquarters, including yard signs, and we encourage supporters to come by, get signs and sign up to help in the campaign,” said Mrs. Fairbanks.
