Student Has To Be Tased At Red Bank High posted May 9, 2008 A student became unruly and had to be tased at Red Bank High School on Friday morning, the sheriff's department said. The young man was a zero-tolerance student who had been moved to Washington Alternative School. This morning he returned to Red Bank for a test. The problem started around 8:45 a.m. when he refused to remain in the office or cafeteria as required. He told others at the school that he had a problem with another student, and he was going to find him. The SRO was notified and confronted the student. The juvenile was cursing loudly and causing disruption of the school, authorities said. When the SRO tried to place him into custody for being disorderly, he resisted and the SRO wrestled with the student until he broke loose and stood up. The officer then ordered him to get down on the floor and stop resisting. The student refused and stood flailing his arms. The SRO drew his taser and warned the student to comply. He was then tased and the officer gained immediate compliance, it was stated. The juvenile was transported to T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital to be checked. He was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, simple assault and resisting arrest. |
