Funding Ramping Up On City/County's Newest Park
posted May 8, 2008

The city/county's newest park - the 2,800-acre Enterprise South Nature Park - is set to open in the fall of 2009, and funding for the park is ramping up.

The park next to I-75 and the Enterprise South Industrial Park is operated jointly by the city and county.

The current budget has each spending $169,803.

The request for the new fiscal year is $238,101 each.

Officials said the park already includes a mile-long woodland walk, 7.5 miles of paved trails and an eight-mile road. Thirteen miles of trails for mountain bikers and additional trails for horseback riders are to be constructed.

City Councilwoman Carol Berz, who recently toured the nature park, called it "probably one of the biggest treasures we have in Chattanooga."

Spending for Ross's Landing Park is slated to go from $846,378 to $905,771 for each government.

Spending for the Tennessee Riverpark is to reduce for the county from $1.27 million to $1.22 million and just go up slightly for the city's $1.22 million.
