Education, Arts & Culture Announces Essay Contest For Area Youth

The Department of Education, Arts & Culture, along with the Chattanooga Lookouts, is sponsoring the second annual summer essay contest – “Lookout Heroes – Here I Come” where area youth are encouraged to write about the hero/heroine in their life. This “hero” can be anyone who has touched their life – a parent, caregiver, sports or historic figure, teacher – the field is wide open.

Ten winners will be chosen and each winner will receive:
-four box seat tickets to the Wednesday, July 23, (12:30 p.m.) Chattanooga Lookouts Game at AT&T Field
-the honor of throwing the first pitch at the game
-An autographed baseball by members of the Chattanooga Lookouts.

A partial list of contest rules are as follows:
-Entrants must be between the ages of 9–12 years of age
-Essay may not be longer than 500 words and must be written in English
-Deadline for essay submissions is 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, at EAC offices, 399 McCallie Avenue (Memorial Auditorium).

Officials said, "Don’t miss this chance to brag about your favorite hero. Who knows, you may be throwing out the first pitch at a ballgame with your chosen hero cheering you on!"
