Charles Henry Ryder Jr. 83, died peacefully at his home on Signal Mountain on May 7, 2008.
He was born on February 18, 1925 in Chattanooga and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He spent his working years in the food service industry and retired from Tennessee Hotel Supply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lena Ryder, sisters, Charlene, Magnolia and Ida Belle, and his wife of 54 years, Inez Ramsey Ryder, who passed away in 2001.
He is survived by his sister, Bettye Ryder King. His surviving children are his daughter, Brenda (Vic) Walker, Charleston, S.C.; sons, Charles Evans (Diane) Ryder, Signal Mountain, Michael King (Dora) Ryder, Chattanooga and David Padget (Stacey) Ryder, Apison. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Don, Jennifer and Cathleen Walker, Charlie Ryder, Ramsey Ryder Reid, Evan, Jaclyn, Bryant, Callie, Caitie and Cami Ryder. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Charlie’s last few years were very special due to his beloved companion, Norma Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and Pastor Ron Follet officiating.
