Fortwood Center Planning $2 Million Expansion, Renovation To Help Children
posted May 7, 2008

The Fortwood Center is making plans for a $2 million expansion in response to additional requests for help for children and adolescents.

Fortwood officials on Tuesday requested the County Commission provide $50,000 per year for five years for the project.

The agency in fiscal year 2007 served 1,301 children. It expects to serve 1,500 this fiscal year.

Officials said they need additional office space and want to cut down on the time it takes for children to get appointments and see a doctor.

The project budget includes $1 million to expand the existing building with the remainder for renovation, equipment and furnishings, fees and site development.

The center is located at 1028 E. Third St.
