Congratulations to the local Democratic Party for establishing a new standard for corruption and incompetence in the first half of 2008.
1. Their senior legislative leader in Nashville pleads guilty to taking a bribe(or excuse me gratuity) and gets let off the hook by one of the good ole boy judges in Memphis.
2. The chief law enforcement official in the county pleads guilty to 28 charges of corruption , which is pretty amazing considering he was only in office for less than a year.
3. Their former county chairman, an attorney no less, can't even correctly file an application with the election board to run for the state legislature.
Maybe the national Democrats should put the Hamilton County branch in charge of the convention in Denver this August.

Let me start by saying I'm a yellow dog Republican. I wouldn't vote for a Democrat if I were on fire. With that said, I don't think it’s fair to condemn the whole local Democrat party because of the antics of a handful of kooks and because of the innocent paperwork mistake of one guy (while the local bar will croak, even attorneys make mistakes).
I know a lot of the guys in the local party and the vast majority are fair, decent people. Ironically, the guy that made the paperwork mistake is the same one that condemns the entire Republican Party every time one of us does something stupid but it's neither fair nor constructive in either case.
Debating the issues between the two parties makes sense but picking on either side because of a few bad apples just further degrades the entire political process.
