The annual all-classes reunion of Lookout Jr. High School will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the old school on West 40th Street in St. Elmo.

Food and entertainment will be available. The adjacent Ben Miller Park offers picnic tables. Tall shade trees still line the driveway into the former school.

Each year, the reunion attracts many local and out-of-town alumni of the school. Memorabilia will be displayed. Alumni are invited to bring their own photos and artifacts of the school to recall the days of the Bobcats, the Megaphone newspaper, and the Green and White.

Lookout Jr. High began as a school in the Hamilton County system in 1924. In 1929, it joined the Chattanooga school system after a vote by the cities of St. Elmo and Alton Park to become part of Chattanooga.

Lookout was closed in 1974. After serving many years as the office of the Chattanooga city school system, the building today is the site of various Hamilton County school system and other community agency offices.
