Cleveland Police said on Wednesday they found several expensive bicycles and other items that had been stolen at a home where a warrant was being served.
Officers Scott Criddle, Dennis Hughes and Daniel Gibbs and Sgt. Mike Moses responded to 1820 Maple St. NE on a warrant attempt.
Officers knocked on the door and Donald Sneed opened the door. When the door opened Officer Criddle recognized a bicycle that was reported stolen. The bicycle was a rare Tomac, which is a high-end bicycle that costs around $6,000.
Consent to search was obtained from property owners Lillian Sneed and Donald Sneed.
Once inside officers located several stolen bicycles that were confirmed stolen through an NCIC check.
Sneed advised that his son, Dennis Sneed, brings home bicycles all the time and that he trades for them with his cousin and Kenneth Killian.
While on the scene, Dennis Sneed came riding home on another bicycle. He was read his rights before he was asked questions about the bicycles in his residence.
Dennis Sneed advised that he obtained a lot of the bikes from his cousin and that he knew the bikes were stolen.
Dennis Sneed also advised that he had gotten one bicycle from Kenneth Killian and he believed it to be stolen as well.
Also found in Dennis Sneed’s bedroom on the bed were six laptop computers, of which two were reported stolen and entered into NCIC.
Dennis Sneed advised he had gotten the laptops from his cousin and from a pawn shop in Cleveland.
At this point CSI Jeff Griggs and CSI Andy Wattenbarger responded along with Lt. David Bishop. The bicycles were confiscated and transported to the Cleveland Police Department along with six laptop computers, several desktops, and several hundred illegally copied movies.
Total value is estimated at over $10,000 in stolen property that was recovered from the residence.
Also, assisting in the investigation was Lt. Steve Tyson, Lt. Steve Weber, Sgt. Shelia Freeman, Officers Josh Nix, Victor Cleveland, Billy Cochran, Chris Rucker, CSI Jeff Griggs, and CSI Andy Wattenbarger. Detective Brian Pritchard is in charge of the investigation.
The investigations also led to two other locations where three more bicycles and a cell phone were recovered.
