Judge Stinnett Re-Appointed To Bankruptcy Post posted April 25, 2008
The appointment is made by the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The new term is for an additional 14 years. The oath of office was administered by Chief United States District Court Judge Curtis L. Collier. Judge Stinnett was first appointed bankruptcy judge in 1994. He holds court in Chattanooga and Winchester. Before receiving his initial appointment as bankruptcy judge, he practiced law in Knoxville. He is an active member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges where he has served on the board of governors and other leadership positions. Judge Stinnett is a member of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and is a past president of the Chattanooga Civitan Club. Last year, there were 5,760 bankruptcy cases filed in Chattanooga. This number has been steadily increasing since the bankruptcy laws were changed in 2005. |
