Collegedale Police Have Active Shooter Scenario Training
posted March 26, 2008

The Collegedale Police Department conducted the first round of active shooter training for 2008 at a local elementary school Tuesday night.

Active shooters are individuals armed and actively shooting innocent people. Historically, the shooter continues hurting innocent people until the threat is neutralized by law enforcement.

Collegedale Police has two officers trained to instruct other officers in the dynamic process of responding to an active shooter scenario.

The training was set up to train a new group of reserve police officers that will be serving the Collegedale community. The remainder of the department will receive updated training later this year.

Chief Cramer expressed his thanks to volunteers from local Boy Scout Troop 99 (Ringgold) and Ooltewah High School students as role players. “The involvement of these students as role players made this training very realistic,” said Chief Cramer. He also thanked the school administration for allowing the use of Wolftever Creek Elementary School for the training.
