Barefoot Nellie, a bluegrass trio from Chattanooga, will be among the featured performers at this year’s annual Southeast High School Bluegrass Jamboree.

The band has played numerous festivals and events throughout the Chattanooga area since its formation last year. The trio consists of August Bruce (fiddle, guitar, and vocals), Dean Arnold (mandolin, banjo, guitar, and vocals), and Eric Bruce (upright bass and vocals). The Barefoot Nellie trio plays what band members refer to as “smooth grass,” revealing a broad range of influences from Bill Monroe to swing jazz.

The 4thSoutheast High School Bluegrass Jamboree will be held Saturday, April 5, at Southeast Whitfield High School just south of Dalton. Hosted by the Southeast Whitfield High School Bluegrass Club in conjunction with the SHS LEO Club, and the Dalton Lions Club, this year’s event will continue to provide area bluegrass enthusiasts with a chance to hear talent from the Tri-State area.

In addition to the Old Sounds, other bands performing at the jamboree will be The Raven Welch Band, the Musselwhite Family, The Barker Brothers, Outta the Blue, The West Girls, and the Old Sounds of Bluegrass.

There will be concessions, door prizes, free parking, and jam areas. SEHS is South of Dalton, located off I-75, approximately 85 miles north of Atlanta and 35 miles south of Chattanooga, at 1954 River Road S.E. just off of the Dalton South By-pass. The music will begin at 2 p.m. and last until 10 p.m.

The Southeast High School Bluegrass Jamboree is sponsored in part by Arbs Insurance, Appalachian Bank, Dalton Print Shop, and WorldWideBluegrass.com.
