![]() Erik Almy writes, "Took my 14-year-old son catfishing for big cats on March 21. Here is the biggest of the day at 51 lbs and it was 48.5" long. Caught on Chickamuaga Lake. His previous best was 33.5 lbs. ![]() Chris Forsythe writes, "This proud Dad wanted to share a photo of Houston and his first turkey, he killed this past weekend on the Juvenile Hunt. It was a whopper to say the least!!! He shot the biggest out of the 5 toms he had less than 15 yards from him and 'yes,' I said 5. This bird weighed 23 lbs 4 oz, had a 11 1/4" beard, and had 1" spurs. I've hunted turkeys for over 25 years now. I have never killed one that weighed and had a huge beard combination like this one. I don't know who is more proud, me or him! My baby boy is growing up, and he'll soon be a man. I just hope he can look back on all this and smile, and do the same for his kids!" ![]() Erik Almy writes, "After hunting hard for the last two seasons, we finally had a plan come together for Storm to get her first turkey during the first juvenile hunt for TN. She killed this bird while it was trying to climb on top of our gobbler decoy, at a distance of 21 yards using her 20ga loaded with Nitro Custom-loaded with Hevi-shot. We had to wait for what seemed like an eternity to let the bird afford us a clear shot of his neck/head, and I thought Storm was going to hyperventilate! I am not sure who was happier, 11 yr old Storm or her dad!" 20lb -15oz ... 11" beard ... 1-3/16" spurs. ![]() Jack Russell of Hermitage, TN, caught a bunch of nice browns and rainbows on the Caney Fork River on Easter Sunday. He caught them flyfishing with hand-tied and home-dyed Clouser Minnows. ![]() Marty Paige writes, "I was out at the Chickamauga Dam yesterday and sort of inadvertently got this image. I just thought it was kind of patriotic with the flag in the background. I was tracking the heron with my camera and fired off a burst . This was the last frame of the burst." ![]() Erik Almy writes, "Thought I would send you these pics I took with my phone from Wolftever bridge while fishing one day recently. As they say, 'the stars were aligned' for me to be there and have a camera ready when this breathtaking opportunity presented itself. I did not catch a fish that evening, but it really didn't matter." ![]() Barbara Simms caught this monster, 67.4-pound blue cat, fishing with Mike Mitchell (www.SouthernCats.com) on Wheeler Reservoir in early March. ![]() I booked a trip with Capt. Nicky with Inshore Angler Charters out of Destin and boy am I glad I did. The WX was terrible, SE wind 20-30 and heavy chop in the bay. The boys had a blast for a good 45 minutes reeling in white trout on almost every cast. Then we ran about 20 miles to some of his redfish spots and with the first cast my 7 year old landed his first keeper red. Next it was my 10 year olds luck that was running high. The lines were wet for all of 5 minutes before he got a huge hit. It about pulled the rod out of his hand but thanks to Capt Nicky I did not have to buy him a new rig. 5 minutes later a big 30-32" red was in the boat. My 7 year old landed another slot and I finally decided to pick up a rod. Well, as fate would have it, I had 3 hits within 10 minutes and I missed 'em all. Circle hooks....still trying to get used to the idea of not having to set the hook. Oh well. We head out for another spot and caught 3 or 4 shorties and I finally landed a slot and so did my older son. The trip was awesome and Capt Nicky produced for us on a day that was not great for fishing. He was a real pro and I would recommend him for anyone interested in some good inshore fishing in Destin. ![]() Chattanoogan.com Outdoor Editor, and guide for www.ScenicCityFishing.com took this 5.1 lb. bass below Chickamauga Dam. ![]() Brandon Price with a bragging-sized stringer of crappie fishing with www.ScenicCityFishing.com on Chickamauga Lake in early April. ![]() Brandon Price with a bragging-size spotted bass taken fishing with www.ScenicCityFishing.com in early April. ![]() Gil Lackey from Nashville with a nice brown trout on the Caney Fork River. ![]() Kathy Davis took this pretty shot of five deer "enjoying" her garden. ![]() Chattanoogan.com Outdoors Editor Richard Simms with a beautiful redfish taken in Louisiana in March fishing with Capt. Two cats came in chasing birds. He called me on the phone and asked if he should take one. Of coarse I said 'do it.' This is the result." ![]() Our new backyard residents; a family of red foxes – a total of 2 adults and 4 pups. They seem to be living under our neighbor’s storage building but slip under the fence every day to play in our backyard. Cooper, our Gordon Setter, knows they are out there but they beat a fast retreat every time he runs back to the fence to “play” with them. Actually, I’m trying to keep Cooper away from them and he’s not happy with that. They come into the yard at least twice a day to play in the grass and I saw one of the little ones stalking the squirrels under our birdfeeder…no luck for the fox the squirrel got away that time. ![]() The coyote was seen in the early morning traveling along the road through the Smokey Mtn. Kathryn DeNovo shares a great shot of from Nickjack Lake -- Garth and C. Bass with their catch of the day. ![]() Allen Baugh says he and Garrett Baugh had a great trip the 4th of July week to Perdido Key. He said, "This was our first time fishing from kayaks but it won't be the last. Lots of fish caught, mostly spanish and kings mackeral. I did hook a tarpon on the 4th of July what a blast, it was almost as big as my kayak. Fought it for about an hour before I had to break it of at the boat. It made several jumps when first hooked up, lots people watching from the beach. It was my first one and I hope not my last. ![]() Allen Baugh says he and Garrett Baugh had a great trip the 4th of July week to Perdido Key. Fishing on Watts Bar, Jody was using shad all by himself. David said, "We had to grab a hold of his PFD a few times to keep him from being yanked in the water. It was a pleasure to see how good he was at fighting these highly aggressive fish." |
