Walt "Combat" Ward, perennial candidate who is currently seeking the 10th District Senate seat, said his is a serious race.
The state probation officer said, "There are those who consider candidates such as myself to be somewhat irresponsible or just plain crazy.
"I do not collect contributions because I am not up for sale or for lease. I have been serious about my candidacy on three occasions and have gone broke three times."
Mr. Ward said, "I am different from any other politician because I live for honor. I have a burning desire to serve the public of this district. I'll bring stability and honor to a system that is glued with deception and dishonor.
"I do not lie or cheat and will never be in a situation that allows me to do favors for wealthy contributors. I consider large contributions to be nothing more than bribes."
He said, "I want more personal income, more jobs in the district, affordable health care and prescription drugs for the elderly."
He has a BS degree in geology from UTC and a master's in criminal justice from UTC. He holds a fourth-degree black belt and has owned and operated seven martial arts studios over the past 30 years. He is a Vietnam veteran.
