Temporary Lane Closures On Olgiati Bridge Beginning Thursday

  • Thursday, September 20, 2018

As part of the U.S. 27 reconstruction project in downtown Chattanooga, the contractor will be working on the Olgiati Bridge for the next couple of days, and it will require temporary lane closures.

Beginning after 9 a.m. on Thursday, the contractor will have a lane closure on the outside lanes of the Olgiati Bridge on U.S.

27 North and South to work on the bridge struts underneath the bridge. This work will take place Thursday, and continue on Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. During the lane closures, traffic will be shifted to the two inside lanes in each direction with the outside lanes being closed.  The contractor hopes to complete the work on Friday, but it that doesn’t happen, he may work on Saturday.

In addition to the outside lane closures on the Olgiati Bridge, some ramps will be affected during the work.

· The on-ramp traffic from Manufacturers Road to U.S. 27 South at the Olgiati Bridge will remain open, but ramp traffic will be required to stop before merging onto U.S. 27 South.

· The on-ramp traffic from 4th Street to U.S. 27 North at the Olgiati Bridge will remain open, but motorists will be required to stop before merging onto U.S. 27 North.

Additional temporary ramp closures or traffic shifts may be necessary as this work continues on different sections of the bridge.

Drivers are urged to obey the signage and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone.
