ChattaNeuter Assists Homeless Animals Fleeing Hurricane Florence

  • Monday, September 17, 2018

ChattaNeuter teamed up with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Friday to provide a safe haven for 26 cats and kittens who came from Grand Strand Humane Society and were evacuated from the path of Hurricane Florence. The weary felines spent the night at ChattaNeuter, a local spay/neuter clinic, to rest before continuing to their final destination at the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago, Il.

“Relocating homeless animals out of communities impacted by natural disasters is a critical aspect of emergency response efforts because it allows first responders to focus on assisting owned pets and animals in need of immediate medical care,” said Dick Green, senior director of ASPCA Disaster Response. “The ASPCA is grateful for the assistance we’ve received from ChattaNeuter as we evacuate homeless animals displaced by Hurricane Florence and place them with shelters where they will have a second chance to find safe and loving homes.”

ChattaNeuter plans to continue to work with the ASPCA in their response to Hurricane Florence by providing a waystation for relocated animals.

“ChattaNeuter is committed to working with our ASPCA partners and helping our neighbors affected by Hurricane Florence,” said Ann Ball, ChattaNeuter Board chair.
