3 Sisters Music Festival Returns Oct. 5-6

  • Wednesday, August 8, 2018

3 Sisters Music Festival is scheduled for its 12th year on Oct. 5 and 6 at Ross’ Landing.  The event is free and a one-of-a-kind venue for top names in contemporary and traditional bluegrass.

3 Sisters is hosted by Fletcher Bright Realty and is their gift to the city.

The schedule begins on Friday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. with music by local bluegrass favorites, The New Dismembered Tennesseans, followed by Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper at 6:50 p.m., Della Mae at 8:10 p.m., and, The Infamous Stringdusters to end the night with a set beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Review for the performers:

The New Dismembered Tennesseans are a group of local, much loved musicians and vocalists who were previously part of Dismembered Tennesseans.  They continue to perform without their beloved Fletcher Bright who left us too early last year and was the heart and soul of 3 Sisters.  Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper return to the 3 Sisters stage and Della Mae, a group of five women, will thrill any audience.  The Infamous Stringdusters will close the night with their tight harmony and celebrate their 2018 GRAMMY of Best Bluegrass Album for Laws of Gravity.

On Saturday, beginning at noon, the local Mountain Cove Band will kick off a full day of bluegrass entertainment as the 3 Sisters Festival continues. Circus No. 9 will take the stage at 1 p.m., followed by Berklee College of Music Fiddlers at 2:10 p.m., Bill Evans and Dan Crary at 3:15 p.m., The Crowe Brothers at 4:20 p.m., Mipso at 5:30 p.m., and an amazing group of ‘pickers’ will party with us at 7 p.m. featuring The Gibson Brothers, Sierra Hull, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, all on stage at the same time, and Noam Pikelny, Stuart Duncan and Friends will provide the final set of the 3 Sisters Music Festival on Saturday beginning at 8:30 p.m.

In addition to all the wealth of musical talent throughout the day, The Gibson Brothers, Sierra Hull and Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley join together to blend their amazing voices and musical abilities.  To close the evening will be Noam Pikelny, whose amazing banjo formed the backbone of the Punch Brothers.  Noam has joined Stuart Duncan, one of Nashville’s most sought-after fiddlers and a group of their friends to close out the festival.

Food from a variety of local food trucks, beer, wine, whiskey and non-alcoholic drink concessions will also be available. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets, however no outside food or beverages are allowed.

This event is sponsored by Fletcher Bright Realty and the city of Chattanooga and produced by Chattanooga Presents! For more information, and to hear samples of all the groups, visit www.3SistersBluegrass.com or call 265-0771.
