U.S. Air Force Veteran Retired From Southern Railway

Robert Andrew “Jack” Richards, 87, of Chattanooga passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018.  

He was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. Jack retired from Southern Railway as a machinist and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1952 - 1955. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Stansbury Richards; his first wife, June Janeway Richards; two children, Thomas Richards and Sandra Richards.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Richards; son, Roger (Connie) Richards; daughter, Patricia “Trish” (Tim) Johnson; step-daughter, Deborah (Deming) Gray; step-son, Stuart (Laura) Ellis; grandson, Joseph Richards; five step-grandchildren, Kristin, Nathan, Christopher, Caroline and Drew; eight step-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Hensley; several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers from Comforts at Home, especially Jesse Taylor who made such a difference in Jack’s life and to the Hospice of Chattanooga.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 23, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Reverend Barry Wilkes and the Reverend Steve Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, at the funeral home.
