With exactly two weeks until election day, candidate for Hamilton County mayor Aloyse Brown is calling on Jim Coppinger to attend the final community forum that remains on the campaign calendar. Metro Ideas Project is hosting the event, called Wonk Wednesday, at its offices on Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m.

“Since the general election campaign began, I’ve attended five community forums to offer my vision for a better tomorrow for Hamilton County.

Jim Coppinger has no-showed all but one,” Ms. Brown said. “This is part and parcel in his stubborn insistence on avoiding voters and operating in the dark.”

Ms. Brown said that she considers community forums to be part of an extended job interview with the public, and so far Mayor Coppinger has failed to attend these interviews.

She said, “I’m asking Jim Coppinger to show up this Wednesday and answer for his endorsement from UnifiEd, raising taxes without public input, and a $257 million backlog in school building maintenance that has accumulated on his watch. He owes voters an explanation.

“Many in Hamilton County have deep reservations about UnifiEd’s plans for public school reform. He should be unequivocal in letting voters know where he stands on UnifiEd’s proposals. As I have been every day of this campaign, I’ll be at the forum ready to answer to voters. Will Jim?”

Metro Ideas Project is at 1216 E Main Street, Suite 102. The Wonk Wednesday forum begins at 5:30 p.m.
