More than 1,000 students have been exposed to new experiences, learned new trades, been gainfully employed, developed leadership skills, enhanced their academics, and have been kept engaged, out of trouble, and off the streets over the last eight weeks with the help of 42 programs funded by a grant awarded by The Maclellan Foundation to The Bethlehem Center.

On Thursday, from 10-11:30 a.m., at The Bethlehem Center’s End of the Summer Celebration, students will have an opportunity to share their experiences and be inspired by a man who is quite familiar with Chattanooga’s inner city, Chattanooga native, Darryl Smith.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Kirkman High School, a minister, and the
Director of Oneness and Diversity at Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ).

Cru is an interdenominational Christian evangelism and discipleship ministry committed to giving people everywhere the opportunity to know and experience God's love and plan for their lives. Cru offers spiritual guidance, resources and programs tailored for people from all cultures in every walk of life.

As the keynote speaker at The Bethlehem Center’s End of the Summer Celebration, Mr. Smith plans to share his inspirational story to encourage and motivate the students to strive for progress and greatness.

The event will be at the Brainerd BX, 4011 Austin Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37411.
