Representative Travis And Senator Yager Announce $786,856 In Grants For Dayton And Graysville

  • Wednesday, July 11, 2018

State Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton) and State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) on Wednesday announced Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) totaling more than $786,000 for water and sewer system upgrades in two Rhea County communities.

The city of Dayton will receive $525,000 in funding for sewer system collection improvements. Additionally, $261,856 has been awarded to the town of Graysville to improve water system pressure. Both amounts were allocated under a procedure authorized by the Tennessee General Assembly based upon priorities set at local levels where community needs are best known.

“Overhauling the water and sewage systems in these communities is an important step in order to ensure that we are able to keep up with and meet the demands of our growing population,” said Rep. Travis. “I appreciate Commissioner Rolfe and the Department of Economic and Community Development for their investment in both Dayton and Graysville and for supporting our residents who live in these wonderful cities.”

“I am pleased to announce these major grants that will help improve infrastructure and increase economic development in Dayton and Graysville,” said Senator Yager. “Only 50 percent of applicants in this round were successful, and I congratulate the local officials for their professional and competitive applications.”

The CDBG program is administered by the Department of Economic and Community Development. For more information, visit https://www.tn.gov/ecd
