Carol Zitzow, of Signal Mountain, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer for the past five years. To the time of her death she was active in the Chattanooga Bike Club, and not long ago was still participating in bike trips. She was also a long time member of the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club, participating in canoe trips and serving as a canoe and sea kayaking instructor. After raising three boys to their teenage years, she went back to school to earn a nursing degree, and for the next 15 years served as an RN in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Erlanger Hospital. Gardening remained her favorite hobby.

She is survived by her husband, Uwe Zitzow; their three sons, Eric, Kevin and Mark; grandchildren, Adam, Lucas and Ellen; and her sister and good friend, Susie Sutton.

The family plans to hold a celebration of life event at a tentative date of July 1 and a location to be determined.
