Local entrepreneur and 2018 Chattanooga Walk to End Alzheimer’s Co-Chair Brett Billings is launching purplecouch.org, a fundraising campaign that supports Alzheimer’s research.

Mr. Billings and his wife, Katy Billings, are immersed in the eldercare community through owning their company, FORESIGHT, an eldercare planning and care management company. Many of their clients face hardships with aging and Alzheimer's Disease.

Through Mr. Billings’ involvement in the local Alzheimer’s Association he wanted to find a way to join together the community of caregivers who are all connected through this disease. Those affected by this disease have a great deal of love and strength to share with others, he said.  The purple couch provides an opportunity to voice thoughts, emotions, advice and personal stories about the impact of Alzheimer's Disease.

Manager of Development for the Alzheimer’s Association Allison Darras said, "Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by Alzheimer's disease. The Purple Couch is a wonderful opportunity for caregivers, family, and friends to share their stories. There are currently over 110,000 people living with Alzheimer's in the state of Tennessee. This project provides help to grow awareness of this devastating disease."

Mr. Billings invites people to book the couch at their places of employment, local attractions or wherever people can sit and share their stories. To book the Purple Couch, visit purplecouch.org or call 432-7514.
