Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church Celebrates 13th Anniversary Of Pastor Samuel Jackson

Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 North Chamberlain Ave. in Chattanooga, invites the public to the 13th Pastoral Anniversary Service honoring Pastor Samuel R. and Lady Vivian Jackson on Wednesday, June 20, at  6:30 p.m. Dr. Rev. Andrew Bullard III of New Enon Baptist Church will be speaking.

Other events will include:

Sunday, June 24 – 11 a.m., Pastor Mike Lacey, of Bethlehem Baptist Church will be speaking
Sunday, June 24 -  4:30 p.m,  Pastor Dr. Ronald D. Dunnigan, of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Lawrenceville, Ga. will be speaking.

Bio of Pastor Jackson:

Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Pastor Samuel Jackson’s 25th year as a pastor.  He moved to the Chattanooga area from Atlanta, serving as the pastor of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Atlanta and the Hopewell Baptist Church in Dalton.   He matriculated at University of Alabama, Georgia State University and Georgetown University. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with BA in history as well as MA in history.  He also has seminary training through Dallas Theological Seminary and Carver Bible College.  He is also a James Madison Fellow with concentration in political science and constitutional law. Pastor Jackson teaches history and government at Ridgeland High School and has for last 10 years, after beginning teaching at Southwest Dekalb High School in Decatur, Ga.  In addition, he was awarded the E. Franklin Fraiser Community Service Award in Atlanta and was the organizer of the Freedom Jubilee Event at Memorial Auditorium honoring local civil rights legends featuring national civil rights Icon the Rev. Dr. C. T. Vivian in 2013. He has also been involved with local educational issues in Hamilton County. Additionally, he has coached basketball at the high school level, as well as AAU, coached recreational baseball, basketball and assisted with soccer, with more than 25 years coaching experience. Recently he played in Preachers versus Policemen Charity basketball game at McCallie school in which preachers won for the second consecutive year, also beating local high school coaches and organized Preachers versus Deacons.  He has been married to the former Vivian Marie Evans, a Brainerd High, UTC and Capella University graduate, for 32 years this June, 14. They have four children, Nicholas, 27, Hamilton, 20, Samantha, 18 and Sarah-Nicole, 13.  They also have one grandchild, Sophia, who is one year old.  At Union Hill these 13 years, we have made several improvements to the church, including remodeling the fellowship hall, adding a new roof, enhancing the PA and Media Ministry, including enhancing technology, purchasing new van, and adding Children's and Teen Church, along with several new ministries, while revamping others, to name a few.
